Krav Maga Global (KMG) is the leading Krav Maga organisation worldwide, operating in over 60 countries. Every KMG instructor is certified through a rigorous international programme — so wherever you train, the standard is the same.
Unlike combat sports, KMG is built around real situations: grabs, chokes, strikes, and the kind of pressure that doesn’t come with rules or a referee. The goal is simple — protect yourself and get home safe.
KMG New Zealand is the sole national representative of Krav Maga Global HQ, delivering the same system that has trained people across the world since the 1960s.
Practical technique from session one. You’ll train real scenarios under pressure, build awareness and decision-making skills, and leave with a foundation you can actually use.
No prior experience needed. No ongoing commitment required. Just real training that makes sense.
You don’t need a martial arts background, a specific fitness level, or any prior experience. KMG training is built for ordinary people in real situations.
Most people who start KMG have never trained before. The system is designed to build capability from zero, not assume you already have it.
If you’ve tried other martial arts and found them too sport-focused or disconnected from real situations, KMG is a different experience.
An intensive course format means you don’t need to commit to years of training to get something valuable out of it.
Self-defence starts before anything physical happens. You’ll learn how to read situations, recognise warning signs earlier, and make better decisions while you still have options.
Core strikes used in real situations — the kind that disrupt an attack and create space to escape. Practical, not performative.
Wrist grabs, bear hugs, chokes — common scenarios that require a clear, simple response. You’ll learn to break free and create distance without needing to overpower anyone.
What to do if you end up on the ground — getting back to your feet safely and creating the opportunity to leave.
One of the most important areas of the curriculum. Simple, effective responses to common high-danger scenarios.
Learning technique is only half the job. Training under pressure — tired, surprised, with adrenaline running — is what makes it usable when it counts.
The best outcome is always avoiding physical confrontation entirely. You’ll practice how to project confidence, set clear limits, and manage situations verbally before they escalate.
An introduction to weapon awareness and the principles behind responding to knife threats — when to create distance, when to comply, and when a physical response is the only option.
Increased awareness, confidence, capability. That’s what you’ll leave with.
All KMG New Zealand instructors are certified through Krav Maga Global’s international programme under Eyal Yanilov. Tauranga courses are delivered by members of the KMG New Zealand instructor team.
The KMG New Zealand instructor team has trained directly under Eyal Yanilov — head of Krav Maga Global and the closest student of Imi Lichtenfeld, the founder of Krav Maga.
That lineage means the training you receive in Tauranga connects directly to the top of the international KMG system — not a local interpretation of it.
All participants who complete the course receive an official KMG certificate of completion, recognised across the global KMG network.
It is a genuine record of training completed under internationally certified instructors — not a participation trophy.
“I came in with zero experience and left feeling genuinely capable. The instructors make it accessible without dumbing it down.”
Sarah M. — Auckland“Not what I expected at all. It’s practical, well-structured, and the pressure training is genuinely challenging in a good way.”
James T. — North Shore“The awareness and de-escalation side surprised me most. It’s not just about hitting — it’s about being switched on before anything happens.”
Nikki R. — AucklandPut your hand up. When we have enough interest confirmed in Tauranga, we’ll lock in a date and reach out to everyone on the list first.
